I came across this quote a week ago and it speaks volumes about the mental fortitude and persistence required to learn a new word and apply it in your daily life. This train of thought also parallels the journey of learning a new language and the extra steps needed to learn a local accent as well.
If someone mispronounces a word, it means they learned it by reading (assuming they are native-born). If they mispronounce a word and are not native-born, it means they can speak in an entirely different language and have experienced an entirely different culture, way of life, and have traveled the world.
This week, I wanted to acknowledge the hard work and dedication that YOU have put into learning English and the hours of effort involved.
